If you live in NYC, getting from point a-b means you’re either on foot or riding the train. It’s a catch twenty two when it comes to this. You’re going to be hot AF both underground and above, and waiting for the train in summer can seriously may you rethink life choices.
Living and getting around NYC this past year, I’ve gained some knowledge on what’s best for the summer and what’s not. Through experiences that involve crying, shoes breaking and a whole roster of other issues. I’ve created a list of style musts to make sure your summer is easy-breezy- okay not so beautiful because you’ll be sweating like a pig, but you get the picture. I partnered with an amazing new style app pickmystyle, that offers you style tips on the go to create this list! The app is available for android and iTunes users.
Construction is heavy in NYC Summer’s since workers aren’t able to work as much due to harsh weather conditions in the winter. With construction comes dirt, rocks and watering eyes. So sunglasses to protect your eyes from all that mess and sun, are a must. A pair with UV protection are even better.

You’re already sweating buckets, you’ve been running around all day being a girlboss, the last thing you’ll want is a massive bag to slug around. I love backpacks in the summer (well all the time) because they distribute weight evenly, and don’t make your arms sweat as much. For summer I’m all about neutral colors when it comes to backpacks, and love blush toned ones at the moment.
3. These Shoes Are Made For Walking
To make sure you’re comfortable, but not sacrificing style, I love a good espadrille sandal. It’s the perfect shoe for summer and literally goes with everything. Aim for neutrals or black. I’m loving lace up shoes right now, and these lace up espadrille’s are perfect.
4. Crop It Up
I love a good crop top, and literally look for any reason to wear one. But for summer you can never go wrong choosing to crop it. Zara is my favorite place to stock up on crops and I think I might have a slight problem.
5. Maxin Out
There’s nothing worse than sitting on something nasty on the train, like nothing. Maxi skirts are a great option to beat the heat in, while ensuring nothing nasty touches your skin. I’m all about maxis with side slits to get some fresh air to your legs. Pair it with your crop top even better.
